Meeting News

The Lafayette Worship Group was established under the care of Baton Rouge Friends Meeting (BRFM) in 2000 with two members of the Religious Society of Friends and several attenders.  Over the past years, one of those original members died and two new people requested official membership.  Although few in number, this small community has been faithful in gathering regularly for worship in the manner of Friends.  After carefully seasoning the concern, the worship group was led to become a monthly meeting.

The first step, to become a preparatory meeting, was affirmed by BRFM in May, Bayou Quarterly Meeting in October, and South Central Yearly Meeting in November, 2007.  There is no predetermined time frame for staying in the preparatory meeting stage.  The name Acadiana Friends Meeting was chosen to be inclusive of the larger geographical area surrounding Lafayette, Louisiana.  Baton Rouge Friends Meeting is honored to support our F/friends in this extended faith community.
